Memories of Elsewhere

Memories from Elsewhere is a project by the Iranian Scottish Community with the support of Inspiring Scotland's Creative Communities. From August 2021 to March 2022, a series of workshops unfolded, artfully crafted to delve into the rich tapestry of Persian culture and heritage. These workshops served as a powerful response to the Persian objects showcased within Glasgow Museums' collection, employing an array of artistic techniques such as textile art, music, and sculpture. The project breathed life into these ancient treasures, fostering a deep connection between the participants and the cultural legacy they represented.

Challenge + Solution

With the aim of promoting the vibrant activities within the Iranian Scottish Community and attracting participants to engage with the workshops, my goal was to craft a visually captivating brand identity. This was especially important as many participants had a basic level of English proficiency. To achieve this, I designed a range of social media templates and promotional materials, with a vibrant colour palette.

Additionally, I took charge of developing an accessible website that served as a gateway to the community's offerings. I used Illustrator to create templates that were later exported as SVG files for easy modification by the client using Canva, facilitating seamless integration into various social media platforms. By combining my design expertise with a deep understanding of the target audience, I successfully developed a brand identity that resonated with participants, fostering a sense of excitement and encouraging their active involvement in the workshops.
